To help you out, here is a list of some of Washington D.C’s most popular and historic drinking joints. You may have heard of some of them and there may be some places that you have simply overlooked. - Penn Social D.C – This watering hole comprises of 2 full floors. There are three bars and a variety of more than 30 types of draft beers. It also has multiple board, a 22 feet HD projector screen etc. So it essentially has something for everyone.
- Smoke and Barrell – This place is a must visit for all whiskey and barbecue lovers. They also have a solid list of beers. Their BBQ Nachos are to die for!
- The P.O.V Rooftop Lounge and Terrace – This place falls on this list only because of the fantastic view that it offers.
- Biergarten Haus – This watering hole boasts of a terrific beer garden with plenty of flags, sturdy benches and wooden stools surrounding barrel tables for drinking and dining.
- Chez Billy – This is a gorgeous French Bistro with a fantastic covered backyard patio with a bar boasting of 8 taps.
- DC9 – This place is best suited for a concert venue. However it has a rooftop deck with a decent view and the drinks are reasonably priced. This is just your bar next door.
- Red Derby – This place has an amazing interior decor inspired by the Victorian era. It is known for its sea food and is also a good place for people watching.
- Cafe Saint-Ex – This is a place that gets crowded really fast. If you want to enjoy a nice outdoor meal and look at what Northwest 14th Street has become, you could do that. If you want to sit inside and drink at the upstairs bar, you can do that as well.
- Nellie’s Bar – It is D.C.’s first gay sports bar. This place may not be for everybody, it definitely welcomes everybody. Its main attraction is its rooftop deck. Their days are normally packed with events like Karaoke Tuesdays and Smart Ass Trivia Night every Wednesday.
- Marvin – This is a unique blend of D.C. and the Western European monarchy. It has an extensive menu and the food is really good. It gets crowded on weekends and the line to enter extends to the end of the road but yes it is well worth the wait.
